Our Very Favorite Baby Books: 6-9 Months

We love reading. We read when we wake up to start the day, we read at least 5-10 books throughout the course of the afternoon, and we always read a bedtime story. Needless to say, we've accumulated quite the little library over the past nine months. I love watching Rocky explore new books and see what really gets those little wheels turning. I, of course, tend to favor the lovie dovie books, but over the past nine months we've created a really fun collection of all sorts of books for this little guy.

We do love the classics, (The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear Brown Bear, etc.) but we've also found some really lovely books that aren't as well known that I wanted to share with all of our mama friends! I hope you'll find something for you and your little one to enjoy together.

Literally just the sweetest book that ever existed. If I were to ever write and illustrate a children's book, it would look exactly like this.

I guess we have a bunny theme 🐰. I love Emma Dodd. Her books are so sweet and she uses this beautiful metallic foil throughout all the imagery that Rocky is obsessed with. If you like otters (and who doesn't), check out her other book, Together.

 Sun and the Moon

This book is SO beautiful! We love the illustrations with the bright red poppies and the foxes.

If You Give a Dog a Donut

Obviously we love If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, but dogs and donuts are kind of our jam.

Oh Baby

This is probably in Rocky's top 3 books. It's the younger, more condensed version for less attentive babies not quite ready for the original. Plus the "Seussian stuff" for the interactive component is the best.

Wendell the Narwhal

I found this sweet book during one of our trips to the aquarium, and it's the best! It's such a cute story about a Narwal who isn't musical but finds his place in the ocean band. As a musical family, we love it!

That’s Not My Fox

One of our many books from the "That's not my..." collection, obviously the fox is our favorite. Rocky is OBSESSED with touch and feel books, and this series is just too much fun.

Mustache Baby

Is Billy the baby a good guy mustache baby or a bad guy mustache baby? Seriously, who comes up with this cuteness?

 Counting with Barefoot Critters

It's never too early to start practicing your numbers! We love the Barefoot Critters series, but the counting one is especially sweet.

A Little Radical: The ABC's of Activism

My childhood friend Jason wrote this book with his wife, Danica, and we couldn't love it more. It's never too early to start teaching these kiddos the power of activism!

I'll be back with more in a couple months as Rocky continues to explore the literary world. We are having so much fun together rediscovering some of my favorite old classics and finding some of these newer, wonderful books!
