Little Petunia DIY | IKEA Bar Cart Make Over

The inspiration for this project came from my office. We have the most badass "Mad Men" style bar that is the first thing you see when you walk in the door. It immediately draws the eye and is so elegant. So obviously while Steven and I are doing "Sober October", I decided I needed one for our house.

I started with the BYGEL utility cart from Ikea, which is $29.99

I assembled the frame of the cart, including the wheels, and put it on a plastic tarp outside.

If there's anything I've learned in my love affair with spray paint, it's to do very thin layers over an extended period of time. I've done too many projects that ended with drips and smudges because I was overeager with the spray paint.
For the frame I used Krylon 1000 Premium Metallic Spray Paint in Gold

Next I sprayed each side of the shelves with Krylon Satin Touch Spray Paint in Catalina Mist

The paint is pretty splotchy at first, but don't fret, it will all even out.

I repeated this process about every 15 minutes for 4 coats.
Let dry for at least 4 hours before assembling.

Ta-Da! Once assembled, add your own personal touches along with your favorite booze.
