5 Organic Skincare Products You Need to Own

I am such a fan of the "mom and pop" small business structure. I truly believe it's the only way quality products are crafted these days because the owners are putting their heart and soul into what they are producing.

As you well know, I've made skincare a top priority in the wedding process, and have been doing monthly organic facials at Girl on the Go spa. They are such a treat and have opened me up to moving beyond my familiar Sephora purchases. I have really been challenging myself to switch from synthetic, chemically-compounded products and getting back to the basics; good, clean skincare.

I've found my favorite place to experiment with these all natural and organic shops has been Etsy. There are thousands of options and products, so I decided to share with you my tried and true 5 favorite shops.

P.S. I'm a total lavender junkie, so you're about to notice a common theme with products I love.

1. Caru Skincare Co.

This brand has actually been my "etsy find of the week" before, because I love their toners. Based out of New York, this shop makes their products with fresh ingredients that are organic and sustainably sourced.

Products: Soaps, Toners and Serums

What I Love: Lavender and Chamomile Facial Toner

Ingredients: hydrosol, lavender, chamomile, german chamomile + lavender water

2. Mullein and Sparrow

This is another skincare line based out of Brooklyn that has really embraced sustainability and uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. What I love about this apothecary is that they make all products in small batches, so nothing is ever the same twice, but it is always lovely. The facial mask that I love is just as good as GlamGlow Mud, but not nearly as expensive and non-toxic.

Products: Teas, Salves, Balms, Facial Steams, Facial Masks, Serums, Hair Products

What I Love: Facial Steam and Facial Mask

Ingredients: Facial Steam - lavender, chamomile, rose, calendula, comfrey, licorice root, fennel seed, rosemary, nettle + chickweed

Ingredients: Facial Mask - Kaolin clay, Rhassoul Clay, Bentonite Clay, Rose powder.

3. Una Biologicals

I've been a longtime Una Biologicals fan for quite some time now. They make the world's most amazing salt and sugar scrubs. This shop is located out of Pittsburgh and is currently a finalist in Martha Stewart's American Made competition! Plus, the shop owner, Jessica, is probably one of the nicest people you'll ever interact with. Their products are vegan, organic, and smell like heaven.

Products: Body scrubs, Teas, Lotions, Salves, Vegan lip balms, Yoga mat sprays

What I Love: Lavender + Lemongrass Organic Sugar Scrub

Ingredients: Grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, mango butter, wildcrafted sugar, vitamin E, organic rosemary antioxidant, pure essential oils.

4. The Green Alchemist

I'm relatively new to The Green Alchemist, but I'm already a huge fan. Their chakra oils are wonderful and they offer a really large variety of essential oil-based products. The owner hand crafts each item and is a certified aromatherapist and herbalist. She makes some wonderful salves for muscle relief, sleep, sinus and tattoo healing as well.

Products: Bath salts, Meditation oils, Essential oils perfumes, Healing salves, Beard oil, Masks + Serums

What I Love: Organic Wild Mint Foot Butter

Ingredients: Non-GMO Soy wax, organic shea butter, flaxseed oil, coconut oil,
peppermint essential oil

5. Southern Twisted Soaps

I adore this shop. They have AMAZING scents ranging from Sea Salt Caramel, Peppermint Hot Cocoa, Chai Tea, and more. This shop in Wilmington, North Carolina makes cold process soap, body and hand lotions without any parabens or phthalates. She also makes something called "Bacon Tallow Soap" where she collected bacon drippings and "washed" the fat to get rid of impurities. Crazy!

Products: Essential Oil Soaps and Lotions, Shaving Soaps, Solid Perfumes, Body Lotions

What I Love: Rosemary + Lavender Essential Oil Lotion

Ingredients: Organic aloe vera, beeswax, mineral oil, glycerin, olive oil, rosemary oil, lavender oil, cocoa butter

I hope you'll visit these shops and explore more on your own. With such a crazy amount of small shops out there selling wonderfully handcrafted products, why would you ever cram yourself into a busy Sephora ever again?
