Thankful ♥

I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual. It is surprising how contented one can be with nothing definite - only a sense of existence."
— Henry David Thoreau

I'm going to be honest, I don't get Thanksgiving. Obviously I understand the historical context of it and what it represents, but I think we can all admit it has definitely become more so a day about stuffing our gullets than reflecting on that historical feast. And, this might make me crazy, but I really don't care for turkey or mashed potatoes, which are basically 70% of what we consume today.

But I do love that there is something almost romantic about today as everyone professes what it is on this earth that gives them overwhelming feelings of gratitude.

My feelings of thanks have always been pretty consistent. First and foremost, I'm grateful for my family. My parents and my siblings are a constant force of love in my life that has never wavered or changed, no matter what phase in my life I am going through.

I'm thankful for my cowboy, for our home that is full of love. I'm so grateful for his patience and his heart, and I'm so excited for what is to come this next year.

And for all my friends, both near and far, I love each and every one of you. Especially Diane, I am thankful for 12 years of friendship and finding a best friend who is also my soulmate.

I am thankful for this new job. I work with an amazing group of human beings and I am learning a lot and loving it in the process. Life works in a funny way sometimes, but I'm so glad my world got turned upside down for a little bit so I could find this new path.

I could go on and on, but there are sweet potatoes that need fixin' and I'm sure everyone is sick of all the sappy Thanksgiving posts. So give your loved ones a squeeze for me, and remember there are 364 other days to be grateful for as well.
